چکیده

The performance of a liquid-nitrogen-cooled high-heat-load monochromator with horizontal scattering plane has been analysed, aiming to preserve the high quality X-ray beam in vertical for downstream optics. Using finite-element analysis, height profiles crystal surface various heat loads and corresponding slope errors meridional sagittal planes were calculated. Then angular distortions reflected both calculated analytically also modelled by ray tracing, revealing good agreement two approaches. results show that increasing load reach their smallest values first then plane. For considered case interest at photon energy 14.412 keV Si(111) reflection Bragg angle 7.88°, are an order magnitude smaller than one. Furthermore, they typical size source position. operating plane, appear Thus, such instrument perfectly preserves Compared scattering, throughput monochromatic is reduced only 3.3% new EBS source, instead 34.3% old ESRF-1 machine. This identifies horizontal-scattering as device essentially free heat-load effects without significant loss terms throughput.

Diamond Monochromator for High Heat Flux Synchrotron X-ray Beams

2 Single crystal silicon has been the material of choice for x-ray monochromators for the past several decades. However, the need for suitable monochromators to handle the high heat load of the next generation synchrotron x-ray beams on the one hand and the rapid and on-going advances in synthetic diamond technology on the other make a compelling case for the consideration of a diamond monochro...

Load Test and Model Calibration of a Horizontally Curved Steel Box-Girder Bridge

In this paper, full scale load test of a horizontally curved steel box-girder bridge is carried out in order to detect structural defects, which reportedly result in unwanted vibrations in nearby buildings. The bridge is tested under the passage of six heavy vehicles at different speeds, so as to determine its static and dynamic responses. A total number of one hundred and two (102) sensors are...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Orbital Simulations on Deflecting Near-Earth Objects by Directed Energy

Laser ablation of a near-Earth object (NEO) on a collision course with Earth produces a cloud of ejecta that exerts a thrust on the NEO, deflecting it from its original trajectory. Ablation may be performed from afar by illuminating an Earth-targeting asteroid or comet with a stand-off “DE-STAR” system consisting of a large phased-array laser in Earth orbit. Alternatively, a much smaller stand...

Robust Controller Design Based-on Aerodynamic Load Simulator Identification Driven by PMSM for Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulations

Aerodynamic load simulators generate the required time varying load to test the actuator’s performance in the laboratory. Electric Load Simulator (ELS) as one of variety of the dynamic load simulators should follows the rotation of the Under Test Actuator (UTA) and applies the desired torque to UTA’s rotor at the same time. In such a situation, a very large torque is imposed to the ELS from the...
